Description
46-50 - Four zone
This is a four-zone mixer with four fan-cooled , 50W nominal amplifiers in a 2U rack-mounting enclosure. It has a two balanced microphone inputs and six unbalanced stereo line inputs which are each summed together to mono internally. All inputs may be fed to the four zones. The microphone inputs have wide gain-range, their own EQ, a 100Hz filter, optional priority over the music signals and access inputs for paging purposes. Music EQ is provided on each of the zone outputs. Microphone one has priority over microphone two, and both microphone signals have priority over the music sources. When a microphone signal is detected the music signal will be reduced by 30dB, restoring smoothly to it’s previous level when the announcement ceases. The microphone signals operate independently and are not controlled by the remote level controls, if fitted.
The front panel has four sets of controls, one for each zone, consisting of a rotary switch to select one of the stereo inputs, an associated rotary volume knob and two microphone level controls. Associated with the four sets of controls are treble and bass controls for the music fed to each zone, hidden behind a tamper-proof panel. There is a large, illuminated power switch. The rear panel has a two miniature terminal-block connectors for the microphone inputs, each have gain and EQ controls, HF and LF. There is a permanent high-pass filter. A removable terminal block-connector provides closing-contact remote-control access to each of the four zones for a paging microphone attached to the microphone one input. Six pairs of RCA(phono) sockets provide the line inputs, each pair having gain controls. A removable terminal block connector provides remote control for remote source selection and level control using optional RSL-6 control panels; this is enabled by a small push-button per zone, which defeats the respective controls on the front-panel. A pair of RCA(phono) connectors provide mono auxiliary outputs for the connection of a slave amplifier or induction-loop system to zones one and two. There is a facility port, in the shape of a 9-pin D-sub connector, to extend the capabilities of zone one by the connection of a remotely-located active control device such as the LM-2 (Note: the LM-2 WILL require interfacing to RJ45 connection - see attached datasheet for more information). The facility port can also be used as a means to directly inject a signal into the zone via a line-level balanced input. A terminal-block connector provides for remote mute of the music signals to all zones for connection to a fire alarm system. Low-impedance loudspeaker output connections are provided by a terminal-block connector, as are the optional 70/100V speaker outputs. Power is connected to an IEC inlet. All controls on the rear panel are rotary and screwdriver-operated.
Internal jumpers are provided to change the configuration. The microphone inputs can be configured to supply phantom power, input 6 can have audio priority over any other selected source in zone one. Remote control for each zone may be set to allow the use of a remote level control (RL-1) while still using the source select switch on the front panel
